How To Dismantle The Eee PC 4G (701)

Caution - not for those of a nervous disposition!

Tools required
  • No.1 Philips screwdriver (not pozidrive)
  • Anti-static wrist band
  • Small flat screwdriver
Step 1: Remove the battery

Step 2: Remove the DIMM cover

Step 3: Remove the RAM

Step 4: Unclip the keyboard

Step 5: Keyboard flixi exposed
Eee PC 4G (701) - Keyboard flexi exposed
Step 6: Unclip keyboard and trackpad flexis
Eee PC 4G (701) - Unclip keyboard and trackpad flexis
Step 7: Remove the 9 screws

Step 8: Two plastic clips under trackpad

Step 9: Prise cover over audio sockets
Eee PC 4G (701) - Prise cover over audio sockets
Step 10: Three plastic clips under screen
Eee PC 4G (701) - Three plastic clips under screen
Step 11: Revome connectors and mic
Eee PC 4G (701) - Revome connectors and mic
Step 12: Lift board & remove WiFi aerials

Step 13: Under side of main board
Eee PC 4G (701) - Under side of main board
Step 14: Top side of main board
Eee PC 4G (701) - Top side of main board

So now you have the main board removed from your laptop - get your soldering iron out :-)
